Chapter 524: Flirting With Proper Gentlemen Despite Being Ill

Chapter 524: Flirting With Proper Gentlemen Despite Being Ill

After a few exchanges that didn’t quite make sense, they both gave up on understanding each other’s looks.Yu Xia and Xie Qingci rested with their heads together, eyes closed, and the room fell silent.

At three in the afternoon, Yu Xia finally got the permission to be discharged and go home. Having barely regained some energy, she was held by Xie Qingci as they exited through a private elevator.

A group of reporters still camped at the hospital’s main entrance. Seeing them, the reporters swarmed in, aiming their cameras at Yu Xia and Xie Qingci. One reporter, who probably had numb legs from squatting too long, nearly stumbled into them.

He Ci and Mei quickly stepped in front of them.

The reporters were undeterred, even being blocked didn’t stop their actions, and loudly asked, "Yu Xia, can you tell us what’s going on?"

"Yu Xia, we heard that it was Mr. Xi from Lin Yu who sent you here, would you care to comment on that?"

"Xie Qingci came last; were you disappointed?"

"How’s your illness, can you give us some specifics?"

He Ci squeezed out a path for them to pass through, yelling to help answer, "It’s just a slightly severe cold, she’s dizzy and can’t talk much, please understand. We’re definitely grateful for Mr. Xi’s help, don’t make wild guesses."

Xie Qingci used his hand to shield Yu Xia’s face, guiding her towards the parking lot.

Nevertheless, Yu Xia still had some energy; she pulled down his hand, smiling courteously as she addressed the group of reporters, "It really is a minor illness, and Mr. Xi truly helped. It’s normal for Xie Qingci to arrive late due to work. I hope everyone reports truthfully and doesn’t spread nonsense."

Though spoken with a smile, everyone knew it was just superficial politeness. If any wild rumors were reported, it wouldn’t look good for anyone once things got ugly.

A reporter soon chuckled and said, "Don’t worry, we will report truthfully; we’re just here to gather a genuine firsthand account."

Others echoed in agreement; saying nice things at this moment didn’t hurt.

Yu Xia smiled faintly as she and Xie Qingci walked onward to get into the car.

The car was the one Xie Qingci drove over. Previously, Yu Xia had arrived at the hospital in Xi Heng’s car, and their car hadn’t been brought over.

Yu Xia hadn’t seen this car before, she sat in the passenger seat watching Xie Qingci adjust her seat, and asked him, "When did you buy it?"

"Just brought it back not long ago. Didn’t you like this car? How’s the position, should it stay like this?"

She leaned back and blinked, speaking slowly due to her low energy.

"Is this my exclusive passenger seat?"

"Of course. Who else would sit here? Sit tight, don’t turn your head, it’ll make you dizzy."

Saying this, he walked around to the driver’s seat and started the car.

This was the first time Yu Xia seriously observed him driving — of course, discounting the times he drove tricycles or scooters on shows.

She often thought he was only twenty-one, so describing him as mature and stable, like her brother wearing a luxury watch and skillfully steering with one hand, didn’t quite fit.

But then again, there’s a certain indescribable allure men have when driving luxury cars.

His articulate fingers wrapped around the steering wheel in circles, one hand shifting gears, the other turning the wheel, as his palm rubbed against the leather, producing a tiny sound that tingled the nerves.

The sensation was slightly different from rubbing skin, yet it made her instinctively curl her fingers for a moment.

No wonder her sister-in-law said her brother was particularly charming when driving.

Seeing her staring at him, Xie Qingci glanced at her, asking, "What are you looking at?"

Yu Xia replied leisurely, "Watching you drive is very charming, especially handsome."

Xie Qingci couldn’t help but chuckle softly, with warmth all over his face.

But for He Ci and Mei sitting in the back, the feelings were a bit complicated.

If He Ci had to describe it, it would be akin to "flirting with a decent man despite being ill," truly deserving praise for her indomitable spirit.

Did they even consider that there were two living people in the back seat?! Couldn’t they flirt when they got home?!

He deliberately coughed, creating a sound to encourage Yu Xia to act more reserved.

Yet Yu Xia seemed to filter out everything except for what she could see and hear from Xie Qingci.

"Indeed, luxury cars and handsome guys are a perfect match; the name Maybach and Xie Qingci go hand in hand."

Xie Qingci, keeping his eyes on the road, still smiled, "It’s just you who likes Maybach."

"Uh-huh, that’s why I like you too."

Xie Qingci raised his eyebrows high, looking at her again.

"You’re feeling better now, aren’t you? Energetic and not dizzy anymore?"

"Dizzy, but looking at you makes it better."

He shook his head with an amused smile.

The two people in the back were feeling overwhelmed by the sweetness, and He Ci’s expression twisted as if he had inhaled a large amount of essential balm.

He said sardonically, "If you’re dizzy, just close your eyes and rest quietly; don’t distract the driver, or it’ll lead to accidents."

"Okay—"

Yu Xia leaned back into the seat, closing her eyes. If not for feeling dizzy, she might have wanted to nod her head expressively to show her temporary joy.

Considering her discomfort, it took Xie Qingci half an hour to drive back to the underground parking lot at the apartment, compared to Xi Heng’s fast, reckless race taking half that time.

Yu Xia managed to fall asleep while being rocked during the journey.

When it came time to get out of the car, it was Xie Qingci who carried her out, letting her slump on his shoulder like a child to keep sleeping. Then he handed the key to Mei and took the elevator straight to their desired floor.

Yu Xia didn’t touch the ground at all on their way home, continuing to sleep when placed on the bed.

Outside, Xie Qingci talked with He Ci and others before seemingly making a call; whether it was to Yu Heng or Mr. Yang was unclear.

She couldn’t quite make out the words, but the fuzzy sense of someone speaking provided a comforting noise, not enough to wake her, but enough to let her know someone was home, so no need to worry.

Accompanied by such sounds, she sank into an even deeper slumber.

When she woke up again, it was already evening. Xie Qingci was by her side reading, and with only a reading lamp glowing, the room felt dim. Upon waking, she no longer felt dizzy, just a bit unsure of the time.

"Xie Qingci?" she called out immediately.

Xie Qingci promptly put down his book, walked to her side, bent down to check her forehead and cheeks, his voice tender as water.

"Looks better, are you hungry?"

Yu Xia nodded, reaching towards him, and he naturally opened his arms, lifting her up.

Being at home, formality was dismissed; she wrapped her legs around his waist, clinging to him like a koala.

"Your arms seem really strong," she remarked thoughtfully.

"The trainer hired by the company said the minimum requirement for me is to carry a hundred-pound girlfriend upstairs. You’re not a hundred pounds, so carrying you is easy."

She lay on his shoulder watching his tensed arm muscles, the bulges undulating like mountain ridges.

Despite his pale skin, in this dim light, it exuded a fragrance and allure akin to just-ripe fruit.

The pursuit of newly ripened and tender things never goes out of style, and Yu Xia had already laid her hand gently on his arm muscles, reflecting on the excellent shape of his body.

In the vibrant lights of a cyberpunk scene, a photo of him shirtless doing pull-ups would surely be stunning.
