Chapter 1107: He Knows How to Respect Me
Stella Charlie paused for a moment, her hand on the doorknob, and asked Vincent Warner through the crack in the door, "What are you doing here?"Vincent Warner looked down at her and murmured softly, "So you’re home."
Stella Charlie ignored him and was about to close the door, but Vincent Warner reached out to stop it, "Let’s talk."
Stella Charlie just looked at him without speaking, but she didn’t insist on closing the door either.
"How did you and Owen meet? Did you deliberately find him to provoke me?"
Hearing Vincent Warner’s words, Stella Charlie couldn’t help but laugh mockingly, "Does Mr. Warner think I still care if you’re upset or not?"
"How long have you known him? You’ve already met his parents?"
"I’m not young anymore. Why shouldn’t I meet his parents if I find a suitable match through a date?"
Vincent Warner frowned, "Suitable? Are you serious?"
Stella Charlie smiled at him and said softly, "If he weren’t your cousin, I would really marry him."
Vincent Warner: "What do you like about him?"
Stella Charlie: "At least he knows how to respect me."
Vincent Warner paused, realizing Stella Charlie was still upset over what happened in the afternoon, and apologetically explained, "I didn’t mean anything by what I said, I’m sorry."
Stella Charlie curled her lip, "It’s okay, what you said was true."
"I..."
"Alright, if Mr. Warner is only here to explain this matter, please leave. I don’t care at all about what kind of words you’ve said. It’s tiring for Mr. Warner to wait here all afternoon."
Vincent Warner stood still, obviously unwilling to leave, but he dared not enter the house without Stella Charlie’s permission.
As they were at a standoff by the door, Owen Orwell’s car stopped by the roadside.
He was holding dinner he brought for Stella Charlie, looking somewhat surprised at Vincent Warner.
The two exchanged glances, both not particularly friendly but restrained by their cousin relationship, not directly expressing their dissatisfaction.
Owen Orwell directly ignored Vincent Warner and said to Stella Charlie, "You haven’t had dinner yet, have you? I brought you your favorite dishes."
"Thank you." Stella Charlie took the bag from Owen Orwell’s hand under Vincent Warner’s displeased gaze.
Owen Orwell looked at Stella Charlie’s face with concern, the red and swollen mark from the slap still evident: "Stella, I’m really sorry for today’s incident, but I’ve talked to my mom, and she said as long as we have feelings for each other, she won’t stand in our way."
Vincent Warner’s gaze towards Owen Orwell grew colder, and Stella Charlie didn’t know how to clarify things with Owen Orwell.
Owen Orwell seemed restrained as well, hesitant to speak up with Vincent Warner present, and said, "Stella, you should eat first, the food will get cold."
Stella Charlie nodded, indicating she was about to close the door.
Owen Orwell and Vincent Warner, however, both stood by the door, neither willing to back down.
Finally, Stella Charlie said, "The rain is getting heavier, you both should leave, I’m going to eat."
Upon hearing Stella Charlie’s words, Owen Orwell moved back a bit, then stared at Vincent Warner.
Vincent Warner seemed to ponder and then turned to leave directly, only then did Owen Orwell feel relieved, and after cautioning Stella Charlie a few times, he drove away as well.
Stella Charlie hadn’t expected things would turn into such an awkward situation.
In truth, she truly wanted to develop a relationship with Owen Orwell, as he basically met all her current expectations for a partner.
It’s comfortable being with him, and he’s very considerate of her feelings, not making her feel like the relationship is a burden.
As for "love," she thinks maybe she’s past the age of yearning for love or the thrill of love, she just feels Owen Orwell is a decent marriage partner.
