Chapter 288: Unbelievably Beautiful

Chapter 288: Unbelievably Beautiful

Aegon stood in their mansion’s backyard, the one which was so vast that it confused him about what its use was. He had never seen it being used for anything, really.

Dressed in a simple, sleek blue suit with a matching shirt underneath and leather boots, he stood staring at the beautiful twilight sky. His face had gained an additional glow, along with his stylish hair, all because of the maids.

They really put in their everything to make him have a godly face.

He rubbed his hands, a little nervous about this. Although he knew Elara wouldn’t mind if he messed up, he didn’t want her to face that. It was her first date, and she deserved the best in the world.

"There you are."

Hearing the familiar voice of Luna, Aegon turned around and froze in place. His breathing hitched at the sight, his heart refusing to move as if it also wanted to capture this moment.

He didn’t even see the others who entered the backyard, only her. His eyes found no one else. There she was, walking slowly towards him, her cheeks slightly reddened from the blush, or perhaps the makeup.

It didn’t matter. She looked absolutely, stunningly beautiful.

The gown she wore was a deep forest green, the kind of color that seemed to have been chosen by the universe itself, as though the shade had always been waiting for someone worthy enough to carry it.

It fell in soft, flowing layers that whispered against the grass with each step she took, the fabric catching the light and turning it into something almost sacred.

Her golden hair had been arranged with careful artistry, some of it swept back to reveal the elegant, tapered points of her ears, while loose strands curled around her face as if unwilling to be tamed entirely.

Small pearls had been woven through the gold, and they glimmered like stars that had decided to descend and rest in her hair for the evening.

But it was her eyes that undid him completely.

Even from this distance, they were vivid, that particular shade of emerald that existed nowhere else in the world but in the Royal Elf Family, bright and luminous in the twilight.

They found his almost immediately, and the faint smile that touched her lips in that same moment told him she had noticed exactly what she had done to him.

She always noticed.

Her cheeks carried that soft rose flush all the way to the tips of her ears, and she clutched a small pouch in front of her, the only evidence that she, too, was perhaps a little nervous.

’So beautiful.’

No, he felt that was an understatement. He couldn’t find words to describe her, yet he also felt that he could go on and on describing how beautiful she was.

"Cat got your tongue?" Cali teased, seeing his foolish expression. She and her twin sister walked on either side of Elara, making Aegon imagine something.

A view of weddings he had watched in many movies, as the bride walked down the aisle accompanied by her bridesmaids. Was it happening to him too?

They came to stand before him, as Elara shifted on her feet. Cali grinned at him and said, "She worked extra hard for you, you know. Don’t you have something to say?"

"Yes, a little compliment is needed, otherwise we’re not giving her to you," Luna agreed instantly.

Elara just sighed at them, clearly too exhausted to deal with them. She had admitted her defeat long ago in her room.

"Beautiful. Stunning. Mesmerizing. Absolutely distracting." He tilted his head slightly. "How am I supposed to focus on our date with you looking like that?"

Elara’s blush deepened as she asked, "So, it’s my fault now?"

"Nope. I’m not complaining. Not at all." Aegon threw his hands back. "Hell, punch me if I ever complain. Oh yeah, I’ll also give you a gun, so if I ever say no to this, then remember it’s an imposter and shoot me."

The three of them laughed out loud. It was quite a sight to see three beautiful ladies laughing together, as if nature itself was happy alongside them.

They knew about guns too, considering he had practiced with them a few years ago.

Elara stared into his eyes, smiling, and said, "You look very handsome too. Enough to stand beside me."

"Oh my, is my shy queen turning into a teasing queen?"

She blushed deeply and said, "I-I just thought you might like it."

"And she wants to use this confident and teasing persona to hide her inner thoughts," Luna chuckled beside her and said. "Noticed how she didn’t even look at you? Not even once?"

"Luna!" Elara shouted.

Aegon raised an eyebrow. He truly hadn’t noticed it, but Elara had kept her eyes locked on his. Not even once had she looked at his body.

"Aye! Don’t be so shy, baby girl," Cali tried to hug her, but Luna slapped her away. "What?"

"Don’t ruin her dress. Aegon will do that today," Luna said, which made Elara’s blush deepen, so she rolled her eyes. "I didn’t mean it that way, you naughty girl."

"I didn’t think anything like that!" Elara protested.

Aegon finally understood the situation and couldn’t help but smile, "It’s fine, El. You can look all you want."

Perhaps she considered this a challenge, so she took a deep breath and looked right at him, trying to keep a straight face. But Aegon could see through her now.

"So, where are we going today?" she asked, changing the topic.

"Well, I have a small surprise for you," Aegon said, raising his head. "It should be here any time soon."

"Still keeping mysteries," Cali shook her head and said. "Alright then, we will leave you two alone, lovebirds. Hope you enjoy your date."

"Enjoy the day!" Luna also smiled at them.

Then, the two of them withdrew, leaving the couple all alone in the backyard. Elara was clearly nervous, which somehow brought Aegon’s nervousness down.

"You’re usually calm in every situation, so what happened now?" Aegon asked.

"This is obviously different, idiot," Elara grumbled to herself.

Aegon chuckled and said, looking into the distance, "Our ride is also here."
