Chapter 4 The Second Transaction
Chapter 4 The Second Transaction
"Now it's either her or me, you have to choose one," Zhuang Wenwen shouted.
Zhang Lingyun's eyes lit up suddenly, and at the same time, a sharp pain shot through his head.
He immediately realized that the time rewind had succeeded.
When Zhuang Wenwen saw that he ignored her, she yelled again:
"You, surnamed Zhang, you'll regret this later!"
But this time, as she turned to leave, Zhang Lingyun grabbed her wrist.
"Wait a moment."
Zhuang Wenwen was taken aback, thinking he had changed his mind, and gave a smug snort:
"In the end, you'll still choose me, right?"
But when she turned around, she found that it was not what she had imagined.
Zhang Lingyun held her with one hand and Xia Youran with the other.
The girl at the next table frowned and muttered "scumbag" under her breath.
The boys nodded secretly: Brother, you are truly a role model for us.
Zhang Lingyun didn't even look at Zhuang Wenwen.
He was watching a stranger passing by out of the corner of his eye.
Zhang Lingyun thought for a moment, then leaned close to Xia Youran's ear and whispered:
"I just saved your life again."
Xia Youran paused for a moment, then shrugged her beautiful shoulders:
"You're just kidding, I don't remember it anyway."
"I really saved you, so you have to repay me."
"Oh, I don't care."
Xia Youran said in a world-weary tone, like someone who has lost all will to live throwing money down the street.
"Then can I exchange all your memories of the [Hand of the Mage]?"
"Can."
She agreed casually, her tone light and airy.
Something suddenly appeared in Zhang Lingyun's mind.
At the same time, the beverage can that was hovering near Xia Youran's lips fell back onto the table with a "thud".
Zhuang Wenwen was furious when she saw that Zhang Lingyun didn't care about her at all and was still whispering sweet nothings to that little vixen. Her face turned green with anger.
"Zhang Lingyun, you scumbag, you've gone too far!"
She raised the stainless steel plate as if to hit someone, but saw Zhang Lingyun wag her finger.
A semi-transparent hand appeared, snatched the stainless steel plate from her hand, and threw it away with a "whoosh".
"Bang!"
A stainless steel plate hit the stranger on the back of the head.
The stranger was knocked to the ground, looked up in alarm, and shouted:
"Long live the Kingdom of God!"
Then, he tried to bite the card in his mouth to crush it.
But a semi-transparent hand flew over and forcefully pried open his jawbone.
Zhang Lingyun then rushed up and started hitting him relentlessly.
The surrounding students were stunned, wondering what was going on this time.
Only when the teachers on duty rushed over did Zhang Lingyun spare him temporarily and pry the [self-destruct card] out of his mouth.
"It's terrorists!" the teachers exclaimed. "Everyone, evacuate in an orderly manner!"
The students panicked immediately, their eyes filled with fear, and a hint of gratitude towards Zhang Lingyun.
Everyone understood that if it weren't for Zhang Lingyun, everyone in the cafeteria would be dead.
The police arrived quickly.
With the help of a school teacher, the matter was resolved on the spot.
The person in charge classified the incident as an act of bravery and awarded Zhang Lingyun a reward of 10,000 yuan, and also promised to apply for extra points for his college entrance examination.
Zhang Lingyun didn't care much about that; he was preoccupied with something else:
The card's functions are more complex than I imagined; it seems I still need to work on developing them.
This is, after all, an extraordinary world.
It appears harmonious on the surface, but there are actually many hidden dangers.
To live peacefully, one must find ways to improve oneself.
After school, Zhang Lingyun suggested:
"Let's go browse around the potions shop."
"What?" Xia Youran asked lazily.
Zhang Lingyun reached into his pocket and pulled out two cards, one of which was "Hand of the Mage".
Xia Youran looked on in surprise:
"You really took the card from me?"
"I'll give you another one!"
"No need. I don't know when I'll die, what would I need a new card for?" Xia Youran said generously.
"Could you please think about this for me? If you die, I'll be the one who suffers."
"Then why did you insist on saving me? It wasn't like I begged you," Xia Youran muttered.
"Why didn't you beg me? If you really didn't beg anyone, why would you be my first business partner?"
Xia Youran was speechless.
Although she was extremely reluctant to admit it, at the moment of her suicide, she did indeed still have a lingering desire to live.
But she never expected that this tiny bit of lingering regret would actually tie her to such a troublesome person.
Ignoring her dazed state, Zhang Lingyun took her hand and led her through the crowd towards a shopping street outside the school.
---
The shopping street is by the sea, and the wind carries a salty smell.
The buildings on both sides of the road are not tall, with red tiles, yellow walls, arched windows, and green vines climbing on stone bases.
Zhang Lingyun found a potion shop under the shade of a sycamore tree.
Pushing open the antique-style shop door, a copper bell rang behind the door.
The shop was lit with warm yellow lights, and a faint herbal fragrance filled the air.
On one side of the bookshelf were magic books, their spines embossed with gold runes.
On the other side was a prop counter, with crystal balls, amulets, and antique wands scattered about in a row.
But these are just embellishments; in the most prominent position stands a row of potion cabinets.
Rows of medicine bottles stood on the red velvet cloth.
The colorful medicines, some emitting a faint glow, others constantly bubbling.
"All the level 0 potions are over here," Xia Youran pointed behind the glass.
A waitress approached, dressed in a smart black suit, with a well-trained smile on her face.
She began recommending various potions to the two of them.
Zhang Lingyun listened attentively and took notes of the useful information.
While the waiter was taking a break, Xia Youran quietly approached and asked in a low voice:
"Don't you think this waitress is pretty?"
Zhang Lingyun looked up and glanced at it.
She has regular facial features, fair skin, and a gentle temperament.
She'd get at least a 7 out of 10; she's a standard beauty.
Of course, she's still a step behind Xia Youran.
"It's alright," Zhang Lingyun commented.
Xia Youran smiled slightly, lowering her voice even further:
"She's a weak witch."
"Huh?" Zhang Lingyun was a little surprised.
"Surprised? A witch working as a waitress?"
"Hmm!" Zhang Lingyun nodded gently.
Xia Youran shrugged:
"There's nothing I can do about it; that's just how it is with the 'Weak Witch.' If I were to live on, I'd probably end up doing this kind of work too."
As the two were whispering to each other, the waitress stopped her explanation, still smiling at them with a knowing look in her eyes.
Xia Youran felt a little embarrassed, coughed lightly, and pointed to a bottle of orange potion in the counter, saying:
"Here's a bottle of Whispering Potion. Why don't you buy it? From now on, when we whisper to each other, no one will hear us."
A red-eyed crow landed on a sycamore branch outside the shop.
It stared intently at Zhang Lingyun, then suddenly muttered under its breath:
"Dare to sabotage the divine kingdom's plans? You'll all die today..."
