Chapter 2243: Contract (3)
Chapter 2243: Contract (3)
After all the preparations were made, Ikki led the group into the cave.
One thing that he was surprised by was the fact that Percival had volunteered to take the very rear.
It was as if he was removing himself from the group so that Ikki would be fully in charge.
Not to mention that with his strength, it really was a good thing to have him watching their rear just in case something happened.
But for Percival to actually coordinate with Ikki like this, it really felt like there was something off.
All of the heroes knew the relationship between Ikki and Percival.
It was that Ikki would always act aggressive and Percival would always ignore him as if he wasn’t worth his time.
How did Percival suddenly become so accommodating?
Once they entered the cave, they found that there was nothing here.
"Are we sure that the compasses are correct?" That was the thought that filled everyone’s mind when they saw this. After all, this cave wasn’t that big and there wasn’t really a place for the Black Tide to hide if it was here.
The reaction from the compass showed that there should be enough Black Tide in here that it would completely fill this entire cave up.
After walking for a while, they actually reached the end of the cave.
Once they reached the end of this cave, they were even more confused since there wasn’t a single thing that was here.
No matter how they tried searching for it, it really didn’t seem like there was a single trace of the Black Tide in this place.
However, there was something else that drew their attention.
"How did you survive in this place?" Ikki didn’t mean to ask this, but it was hard not to ask this since he saw the kid sitting in the middle of the hideout.
It wasn’t that he was surprised that the kid was just sitting alone in a cave, it was that the hideout itself showed that the Black Tide had been through here.
There were parts of the hideout that had clearly been broken down by the Black Tide, yet the kid had survived in this place...
Was it because the kid had awoken some kind of power or was it because of some kind of outside influence.
"You’re finally here."
When the kid said this, all of the heroes and their party members couldn’t help feeling a chill run down their spine. They could all tell that there was clearly something wrong with the kid.
Which was why all of them prepared for a fight the moment that they came back from their surprise.
Then once the kid turned around, they immediately knew what it was that gave them this sensation. It was just that none of them could understand how this kind of thing was possible.
This was something that had never happened before.
What they all saw was that the sclera of the boy’s eyes had been completely turned black.
Not to mention that this was a shade of black that they all recognized since it was the same shade as the Black Tide.
That meant that whatever was inside of the boy’s eyes was related to the Black Tide.
The biggest problem was that it didn’t seem like whatever was causing the boy’s eyes to turn black like this was affecting the boy. It was as if there was some kind of relationship between the boy and whatever it was.
It was as if they were working together to coincide inside of the same body.
"Take him down."
"Wait."
Percival had stepped forward in front of everyone the moment that the boy turned around with his sword drawn. If it wasn’t for Ikki stepping up to stop him, then he might have already attacked the boy.
"He’s dangerous. There’s no doubt that this is what the prophecy is about." Percival said in a firm voice.
"But we don’t know if he can be saved or not. I don’t agree with cutting him down in cold blood like this." Ikki stood firm even though Percival was putting pressure on him.
Percival knew that Ikki was right, but he didn’t seem like he was willing to take that risk.
The reason that Percival had everything that he had was because he had true faith in the god that gave them everything. Which was why he was intent on following through with the prophecy that was given.
Even if it meant a small sacrifice had to be made.
"Do I get an input on this?" The kid spoke once more that made everyone freeze.
It wasn’t his voice that made them freeze, but rather the fact that black ooze was coming out of him.
At this point, it was impossible to say that this kid wasn’t related to the Black Tide in some way. After all, it was clear that the black ooze that made up the Black Tide had been existing inside of his body.
It was better to say that the black ooze had been completely absorbed by him and had turned into a part of him.
At this, Percival didn’t care anymore as he swung his sword in front of him.
A slash of light flew out at the kid, but the black ooze on the ground came up to form a shield in front of him. This shield was destroyed by the slash of light, but it also made sure that the slash of light disappeared.
It seemed like the black ooze that came out of the kid wasn’t normal.
What it felt like was that this black ooze was much more concentrated than anything that they had seen before.
But based on the clues that were in this place, that might have hit the nail on the head.
After all, there were signs that far more of the black ooze had been in this place.
Yet there was only this amount that showed itself now...
