Chapter 296: Help Me Take Summer Lowell Away from Stellarion
Two days later, Justin Huxley received a phone call and then drove to Aeridor.
In the outskirts of Aeridor, at a guesthouse-style hotel, the lobby manager, who had already received word, stood at the road waiting for him.
As soon as Justin Huxley got out of the car, the manager approached him. "President Huxley, the two guests you arranged are staying in the only room at the back of the mountain. As per your instructions, it’s strictly monitored 24/7, and no unauthorized persons will be allowed in."
In the isolated room at the back of the mountain the manager mentioned, Mr. Collins and his wife were anxiously waiting.
Suddenly hearing the doorbell, Mrs. Collins jumped up, looking anxiously at Mr. Collins. "Who exactly are they?"
Before she finished speaking, Justin Huxley had already swiped the room card and entered. "Hello! I’ve come today to introduce myself to both of you."
Mrs. Collins hid behind Mr. Collins, peering over his shoulder with wide eyes. "Who exactly are you? We don’t know you."
"It doesn’t matter. I have a great relationship with your abandoned daughter, and your precious son’s future is in my hands right now. As long as I say the word, what your son worries about the most can be easily resolved."
Mr. Collins and Mrs. Collins exchanged a glance.
The two of them stared at each other in silence for about two minutes before Mr. Collins looked up at Justin Huxley. "You must have something you want us to do. You wouldn’t help us for no reason."
"Of course," Justin Huxley pulled out a chair, crossed his legs, and sat down comfortably, "Why don’t you tell me about the story of your abandoned daughter?"
The matter of the abandoned daughter was laid bare on the table.
Mr. and Mrs. Collins, dressed in outfits signifying their privileged lifestyle, found themselves embarrassed. "We have no idea what you’re talking about. In today’s society, children are cherished, who would abandon one?"
"Cut the act in front of me. If I dare to say it, I obviously have evidence," Justin Huxley tapped the table leisurely, "I’m not a moral crusader. I bring this up not to condemn you but to talk about how well your abandoned daughter is doing now."
A flicker of emotion crossed Mrs. Collins’ eyes, and she nudged Mr. Collins’ arm, giving him a look that only he could understand.
Justin Huxley was unconcerned with whatever signals these two were passing between them.
He called in the assistant waiting at the door, took a sip of coffee leisurely.
After drinking about a third of the coffee, Mr. Collins, having finally concluded a nonverbal discussion with his wife, spoke up proactively. "May I know this gentleman’s surname?"
Justin Huxley slid his business card across the table, but the name on it read Julian Huxley.
Mr. Collins examined the card. "May I ask, Mr. Huxley, why have you invited my wife and I here?"
Justin Huxley looked at the two across from him, took the folder at his side, and slid it to the couple. "Here is the information on your abandoned daughter. She’s currently married to the head of the opulent Sinclair Family in Stellarion. With such an impressive daughter, surely you’d want to repair your relationship with her?"
Hearing that Summer Lowell had become so accomplished, Mrs. Collins and Mr. Collins exchanged incredulous glances and began to carefully examine the documents Justin Huxley had prepared.
Half an hour later, seeing that the two had finally put the documents down, Justin Huxley smiled and spoke. "Well, wasn’t I right? Summer Lowell is quite successful now. If you both can mend your relationship with her, you’ll have a formidable relative for life, never wanting for anything again."
Though his words were enticing, Mr. Collins didn’t think they could repair the relationship with Summer Lowell.
"Mr. Huxley, you mentioned that her current husband is quite powerful. If you found out we abandoned her, surely her husband would uncover the same. It’s difficult to mend the relationship; our intentions would be too easily discovered."
Seeing him hesitate, Justin Huxley clicked his tongue in mild displeasure, then added, "If you don’t dare, then let’s choose a different way and work with me. As long as you two can bring Summer Lowell out of Stellarion, I’ll handle your son’s issue... I’ll cover all the expenses and double your reward."
This offer appealed to them.
Mr. and Mrs. Collins huddled together, whispering for a moment, then looked up, genuinely and gratefully, at Justin Huxley. "We’ve discussed it and decided it’s safer to work with you, Mr. Huxley."
"Alright, in a couple of days, I’ll secretly arrange for you two to travel to Stellarion. I’ll inform you of Summer Lowell’s current workplace then. Find the right opportunity to run into her, and make it clear that finding her was a significant effort."
The cooperation was thus tentatively settled.
In order not to alert Maxim Sinclair, Justin Huxley arranged for several times the usual security staff to guard the Collins couple on this floor, preventing any external contact.
In Stellarion, at Varden Villa.
As per Maxim Sinclair’s instructions, Matthew, who had been keeping a close watch on Justin Huxley, soon discovered that Justin had frequented a poorly performing hotel in Aeridor for three consecutive days.
This directly indicated that something was amiss.
Matthew relayed these events to Maxim Sinclair, focusing on the suspicious aspects.
Maxim Sinclair, contemplating Matthew’s analysis report, took a moment before calling the two bodyguards stationed abroad, who were closely monitoring Summer Lowell’s biological parents.
Matthew, awaiting instructions, remained in the room.
"As I suspected, Justin Huxley sent people to Rivenland, took Summer Lowell’s biological parents. If I’m not wrong, his commutes to Aeridor these past few days are to persuade the couple to cooperate with him."
"Should we inform Mrs. Sinclair?"
Matthew kindly suggested, "If Justin Huxley met with the couple, it’s undoubtedly to deal with Mrs. Sinclair. Informing her in advance could prevent potential issues, keeping her from being in the dark and possibly misunderstanding you later."
"No rush for now; she might not want to hear the truth of the matter. Besides, all these years, she has just this one obsession; finding a way to make a big deal small and a small thing disappear seamlessly is the best course of action."
Seeing his determination, Matthew refrained from advising further. "Alright, President Sinclair, I’ll follow your instructions."
Matthew exited the study, gazing at Summer Lowell in the distance, his eyes fraught with complexity.
Summer Lowell felt puzzled under his gaze. "What is it? Is there something you want to say?"
