Chapter 398: Passive-Aggressive
Chapter 398: Passive-Aggressive
The two old men were chatting with a sense of nostalgia.
The elder being advised, with the surname Moss, although unaware of the other’s specific identity, was certain it was not insignificant.
With a look of resignation, he said to Grandpa Ford, "How many young people nowadays have the patience to learn these traditional skills? Take my granddaughter, for instance. She came back from studying abroad, and all she talks about is ABC, international financial management fluctuations, more interested in international politics than I am."
"Ah," Old Mr. Ford disagreed, "it’s all for the family business. Learning these things is normal. My grandson is the same."
Old Mr. Moss huffed, "Your grandson can still cook for you. My granddaughter can’t even tell the difference between soy sauce and vinegar!"
Old Mr. Ford burst into laughter, "How many young people are willing to cook now? It’s normal. For example, my grandson can cook, but my granddaughter-in-law cannot."
Thea Shaw: "..."
Suddenly feeling offended.
Old Mr. Moss looked at Thea, still satisfied, "Thea, right? That’s a good name, and you’re a good girl. Is your father Justin Sutton? Justin is a capable young man."
Thea heard the words "young man"...
Although for these older folks, Justin really is considered a young man.
Thea smiled and said, "Grandpa Ford, I came to find you because Landon is almost done cooking, and we need to go back to eat."
"Let’s go, let’s go."
Old Mr. Ford, being gently nudged, followed Thea back while happily saying, "My grandson’s cooking is not easy. We diners need to be more enthusiastic."
Old Mr. Moss watched them leave, his gaze a little envious.
If his unfilial children were willing to cook for him, their ancestors’ graves would surely emit smoke.
Thea and Old Mr. Ford returned to the room, and Landon Ford indeed was almost done cooking.
Since there weren’t many people, he prepared a few light and appetizing dishes, relatively mild in flavor.
It’s summer now, just right for eating these.
Old Mr. Ford sat down, and Thea conscientiously laid out the tableware neatly.
Old Mr. Ford watched the scene before him, his heart filled with ever-growing satisfaction.
Since his spouse passed away, as his grandson gradually grew up, the house became quieter, and he couldn’t remember the last time he enjoyed such family joy.
He originally wanted to think about great-grandchildren, but looking at this young girl Thea, he thought it would be nice to see them get married in his lifetime. The rest, let it follow its course.
The young girl is so young, she has her whole life ahead of her, how can she so quickly devote it to others?
He was quite content and happy now.
The table had four dishes and a soup, more than enough for the three of them, and Thea took small bowls and served a bowl of soup to each person.
I must say, Landon’s culinary skills were getting better and better. If he kept honing them, a place among top chefs was surely his in the future!
Just as Landon Ford sat down and sipped his soup, he looked thoughtful and suddenly said, "If Dad were here, wouldn’t we be a happy family? It’s been a long time since we all sat down together for a meal."
Thea didn’t want to use harsh words to describe Landon Ford but thought his comment was subtly sarcastic.
Sure enough, the old man abruptly put down his bowl, "Why bring up buzzkills at the dining table? Ruins the appetite! You’re the only one thinking of him and speaking up for him, but is he thinking of you?"
Landon Ford lowered his head with a slight smile, "I misspoke."
Thea: "..."
Indeed, there’s a reason why Warren Ford can’t beat Landon Ford.
